Saint George Monastery (Vamos)
Just outside of VAMOS (2km) direction of VRYSES, is situated the Saint George Monastery of Karydi. Originally an olive oil factory owned by a Venician family (When Crete was still owned by Venice). After invasion of the Ottoman it became a monastery and as a result of the attempts to convert the local population to the Moslim, the monastery grow.
