Our holiday house "Villa Maquis" is located in North-Western Crete near the charming city of Chania. Chania is a picturesque city where it is nice to stay a day, shopping, visiting a museum, just hanging out at the old Venetian harbor, having a nice dinner together. Also the city of Rethymnon is located at the same distance.

Western Crete is known for its most beautifull beaches of BALOS, ELAFONISSI and Seitan Limani. These pearls are worth being discovered and from Villa Maquis it is the perfect location to start.

The perfect hideaway

Integrated in the nature, without any immediate neighbors, you will arrive in an oasis of peace. The villa offers all modern luxury and comfort so you will immediately enjoy the best of what Greek life has to offer. Here it is rural Crete, but in the proximity of authentic Greek villages.

Certainly take the time to have a drink at the village platia ( square ) amongst the local who always seem to fight about something. Have a walk through the old town center, buy some honey from the local bee-keeper of a ceramic from the pottery shop. Here FILOXENIA (the love for the stranger) is not a word but an attitude.

Top location

Villa Maquis is located on the top of a hill, it offers fantastic view on the valley of Vamos and Gavalochori until the coastal villages of Almyrida and Kalyves until the opposite side of the bay is Souda with the small islands of Marathi. On the East side the villa offers amazing and unobstructed views to mountains (2450m).

Villa Maquis is integrated in nature, the different levels of the terrain are separated with Sheppard style walls and the natural vegetation is kept. Walk down from the top of the East side of the plot that is covered with wild thyme, sage, wild olive trees and Maquis and smell the wild herbs as you pass through it. Villa Maquis is named after the group name for the natural vegetation.

A small drive of 5 km will take you to the cosy sandy beaches with lounge bars and small beach restaurants, just relax on the sunbeds, you will get served... while the kids are playing in the sandy shallow waters of the little bay.

The villa is located at 1,2 km from the center of VAMOS direction of KEFALAS

From Chania airport - 40 min, From Heraklion airport - 1h30 drive to the villa.

The holiday house is located at the end of a rural road. It is situated at an altitude of 285m in the province of APOKORONAS. This area is known for its green vegetation and the proximity of the white mountains which are covered with snow until the beginning of Mai.

This is rural Crete, so you will need means of transportation. Contact us for car rental recommendations.
