ARKADI Monastery ; the Origin of this Byzantine church dates from the 5th century, later is became a Venetian monastery. But most of all due to its history this is now considered to be the most important symbol of resistance against the Turks and the Ottoman empire. Even today, many Greeks come to visit and honor this symbol of resistance.
